How Rare is This Maadi Kit?

I was able to acquire this Maadi kit over the weekend. It's all number matching and is in good condition.

I've never seen one before - anyone have any ideas on its value (I do not intend to sell it - just curious how much it might be worth). . .

    Thanks in advance!!!

Considering I bought a complete Maadi about a year ago for $450 after everything, I'd say the kit is worth about $300 assuming it's all in great condition.

Then again, with the way parts kits are going, it might be worth a bit more than that, but I'd doubt it. Also, some people might pay a premium for the 'Russian' factor of it.

if it's from an demilled military rifle it might be worth something, I saw one on gunbroker with starting price of 500 (but no bids). Maadis were built on original Russian tooling so early ones might even have genuine Russian made parts which would be desirable.

But as others have pointed out, complete guns can be had for 3~450 bucks.

That said the commerical guns have a cheap finish and at least the ones I've seen have cast front sight blocks, vs the milled ones on early military guns. You might wanna check yours to see what you got.

              FSB is cast. . .

Interestingly - the THREADS on the barrel were milled off, in what may have been a crude attempt by the importer to make it post-ban. Also - the bayo lug has been milled somewhat.

Sounds like yours was a commercial rifle that was chopped up. You can also tell from the picture that the sear is for a semi gun.

It's too bad that the muzzle thread was milled off, some had a muzzle nut tacked on over the threads which can be recovered by carefully removing the weld and the nut if you've added enough US parts.

The funny thing about the milled off bayonet lug on Maadis is that, whoever did the milling did such a half assed job that they can still function! I once tried to install a bayonet (just for the hell of it) onto a maadi barrel and to my surprise it still locks in.

Judging from the pic I'd say the stock is the most valuable part of this kit. it resembles the original laminated Russian stocks and appears to be in great shape.

Interestingly, a big section of the rear sight block has been milled off (like they were trying to remove a logo or something).

Was definitely a gun with some character (if not value).

Dude, the logo is the BEST part. I mean how many guns have the visage of Pharroh himself on them? Plus the "Made in Egypt" on the receiver is pretty bad *** too.

At least, it looks like, you got the FA carrier. I'm pretty sure all Maadi's had them, but at least ALL of your gun isn't commercial.

Actually if you look carefully the full auto "lug" on the BC has been milled off.

I do agree that the pharah head or whatever and the made in egypt markings are badass.

Does it have arabic on the RSB? On the trunnion? Does it have arabic on the rear sight leaf? Most have a russian one. I noticed the side sling loop, a late design, it should have a egyptian cane or something on the buttstock pad. I have a maadi kit, it has a crown instead of arabic on the RSB. It has AC on the trunnion and russian leaf which is like russian akms of that era. It has a semi-auto carrier and welded cap over the threads. Full-auto carriers were on early steyr imports which are preban and worth the most. Some of the steyrs are arabic marked. There are a few "military" arabic marked and fa bc kits but they're rare. The Maadi's are supposedly built from Tula machinery. Maadi's are the darkest, from the dark side.

                        $350-500-?
                        $1000-1300-arabic

Didn't see a pistol grip, the maadi brown grip is more rare than the black grip. I'm looking for a maadi bayonet, so if anyone finds one let me know.
