    Milspec v/s Commspec

    Hi Guys,
I'm looking to put together an AR this year and had a question:

    What are the MilSpec/CommSpec parts

I know about the Buffer Tube (and hence the stock), but are there other parts that also have different specs?

E.g. is there a commspec upper assembly, BCG, charging handle etc? (or are these parts all milspec)

There is milspec, then there is everything else.

Note that milspec is not really that high of a standard of quality, in a lot of cases: "good enough to take a beating" is pretty much what milspec means.

Typically, in terms of actual dimensions of parts being different, it's really only the buffer tube and stocks that you need to worry about. With the exception of a few older variants, most AR-15 parts are pretty much plug & play.
