DPMS cut vs Regular

New to AR's, can someone explain the difference between DPMS and regular uppers/lowers?

You talking about 308 or 5.56?

5.56 is MilSpec. Which is the only "standard" I know of.

DPMS pattern in 308 is semi the norm. But there is no set standard in the 308 market as of yet.

These really only apply to Ar10/LR308. On the AR 15's they are generally made to a military spec with a few exceptions. Generally, most AR15 upper and lowers are compatible with each other.

With the AR10/LR308, the two most widely used patterns are the DPMS LR 308 and the Armalite AR-10. You will have to match the uppers to the lowers for the respective patterns. There are also manufactures that build their own from the ground up that don't follow either patterns. Tis the problem for a platform without a military spec.

not sure there is any although dpms does have an upper variant that is their own design

when it comes to ar-10 there is either the armalite (eagle arms) pattern or the design dpms uses similar to the stoner rifle 25
