        If it's steel, use one of those telescoping magnetic tools for picking up small parts. It's probably two dollars at harbor freight.

        Or get some pliers to hold it in place.

            I've done it when I installed a new rail. All you have to do is remove the barrel to place that piece back in.

                Remove barrel, easily reinstall side rail, replace barrel, torque 6 barrel retaining screws to 62 inch pounds starting closest to the bolt and working forward in criss cross pattern. Whole thing will take you ten minutes. Good time to learn removal and replacement of your barrel anyway. Make sure you use a torque wrench, don't guess.

                  Just take the barrel off..........It's so easy and quick I was mad I spent the money on a torque wrench for 30 seconds of use.
