PSA 16" SS ar10 308 barrel for $150. Any thought?

    Like the title says.

It's exactly what I want, stainless steel, light profile, 16 inch and mid length gas.
But the price is throwing me off. It's almost half the price of other barrels. And I'm a firm believer of you get what you pay for on one hand, but also never look a gift horse in the mouth. Lol.

    Any thoughts?

I don't see why 308 barrels should cost that much more than 5.56 barrels. Half again as much? Sure. Three times as much? No.

On the other hand, I'd prefer 18" rifle gassed, on a nitrided 4150CMV barrel.

556 barrels are in higher demand, so more volume equals lower prices. Also the 556 market is saturated with brands competing for market share.

Correct, and that's why I said half again as much is reasonable. A few times as much isn't.

I think it would be a good barrel.

I'm not too familiar with PSA but people only complain about shipping times. Are they known for quality and consistency?

You're going to get answers from two types of people when PSA is being discussed here, those who use PSA products and swear by them and those who likely haven't used PSA products and believe they must be cutting corners in regards to quality to have such low prices on their offerings. I've never personally used any of their AR products so I have yet to form an opinion, but their PA-10 looks like a tempting project.

Yeah, so I'm looking for some confirmation that this particular barrel is good to go.

Probably already aware, but FN makes a lot of their barrels. Not sure who makes the .308 but I'm sure it's GTG. I do not own one but it's next on my list of things to get. I own 1 complete upper from PSA and I'm happy with it for the price.
