    Why BCM Recce?

    Hey guys,
I need your help to settle a feud. A buddy and I got into a debate over the merits of the BCM Recce vs the venerable Colt 6920. The way I see it, there isn't anything the Recce can do that the 6920 can't, yet my friend insists that it is far and wide a better rifle. Am I missing something here or is he just being a fanboy? If you guys could offer your insight it'd be appreciated!

      Also,

I believe Colt 6920s are Carbine Length Gas System only?

BCM Recces are Mid Length Gas Systems which seem to be a bit more of an optimal gas system for 16 inch AR15s.

6920 is a fine carbine but I think BCM Recce is notch above IMO.

What exactly makes it a notch above though? Parts quality?

Shoot both with the same ammo and the say yard to test the weapon. That's the best that's gonna happen. Colt and BCM are not that much different except Colt makes it all in house and BCM is parts from other people.

The bcm has hammer forged barrels and I didn't see anything that states if the Colt barrels are hammer forged.

How are you using it? I have both, the BCM has a SS410 barrel, midlength gas system, which equates to a softer more accurate gun. Only real obvious difference between the two are the barrels (SS vs. chrome) and gas systems.

Colt makes a great rifle, no doubt about it, but BCM goes a step above even Colt in QC. As stated above BCM purchases many of their parts from other manufacturers, but before using them they test and measure every part to ensure its up to par. They even run their gas tubes through a "go" "no go" gauge and end up rejecting a lot of them. Colt produces way more rifles and simply won't/can't do the amount of testing that BCM does on each rifle.

Its ok to like a brand way much more than another, its just not ok to tell someone else that its better because they like it better.

I personally do like BCM over colt, because I have good experiences with the company and their uppers. I also like the handguard options BCM offers and would rather directly get how I want the upper. I've called and talked to them and asked questions, the owner has responded to my emails. That's what makes me like them.

I think BCM just found their new slogan...

                      Great quote.
