Everybody should have a CMP Garand

    Just sayin'

I have seen a few rack grades now and they all shoot fine. Who cares about appearances? They're 51-60+ year old battle rifles . And they're pieces of American History...tangible, solid pieces of our history. How cool is that? Rack grades are 395. Of course you can pay more and get one better. However, CMP looks these over and they do function. Or get a Field or Service grade for a bit more. Or if you need to get a Correct or Collector grade.

These won't be around forever. CMP will run out...probably within 18 months or so. They ain't making anymore and you can get that any Garand you don't massively overpay for will increase in value. That can't be said for your Kel-Tec.

Once you shoot the barrel out you can have it replaced...

.308, .30-06, heavy contour match barrel, stainless...

Whatever you like. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

Guys, Gals...for the price of an SU-16 or mini-14 you can have a Garand. Come on now .

CMP paperwork can be done easily if you give it a little effort.

If you don't wish to go to a shooting event then get a C&R license for $30 bucks..it will not only cover your shooting requirement, but also allow you neverending pleasure with all manner of military surplus sweetness (but that's another thread). Oh, and you get dealer pricing at Midway and brownells.

For a club you can joing thte California Rifle and Pistol organization for I believe 18 a year? And/or Garand Collectors Association for 25.

10 dollar notary fee for the CMP paperwork you print offline and you're done.

A Garand or 12, 1903s, stripped Garand receivers...all will ship right to you...no DROS...no stupid lock...no BS. Eat that liberals.

Got to get one guys and gals.

I'm waiting on my first 3 that I ordered a few weeks back.

FWIW, I believe the corrects are sold out. Luckily I got my order sent in time.

I bought 3 without ever even holding one before. Fell in love when they arrived and bought 1 more. I sent one back, a Greek, because it had more muzzle wear than it should and got a GI in return! One was a 5 digit and another was so perfect I don't think the Greeks ever fired it since it was still packed in heavy cosmoline and still is. I wiped off just enough to see the numbers and found out it could have passed for a collectors or atleast a correct grade! Score!

I didn't exactly buy mine from the CMP, but that's where it came from.

There's nothing better than having a real rifle being shipped to your door, with the only wait being from the time you submit your order, to the time that it's shipped!

Hrm... once you get once from the CMP can't you sell it to someone face to face if its pre 1956, like if your brother in law wanted it or something?

Might be handy to get a couple Garands around

I REALLY want one.... I just bought an 18" tanker barrel off Ebay...now I need a receiver and I can assemble my parts.

I bought one from the DCM in 1982, sold it for a 400% profit 2 months later. I never wanted one again, I don't need a big heavy 30.06.

I've been meaning to do this now that I have the forms printed. Question; does my drivers license have to be current? I just moved and haven't changed my address yet.

My adress wasn't the same on my drivers license as where i live. Not a problem.
