    Need Help Removing Bullet Button

Please note, I no longer live in CA, I live in Nevada.

I just bought this brand new Colt 6920 and unfortunately it came with a bullet button. It doesnt look like an ordinary bullet button. It is a different style.

How can I remove this? Do I have to use a screwdriver? Also, Ive heard manufacturers use locktite making it impossible to remove.

    Please help me

Yes you use a screwdriver, heat it up with a heat gun if they applied a thread locking compound.

if it's too hard you can use the screw driver to push the bullet button then unscrew it from the mag catch side... sometimes that's easier.

Nice that you can use a tool that actually exists (ie screw driver). The other style can be a real PITA.

You can also use a soldering iron to apply heat to the bullet button if you need to break free locktite.

^^^^ Good luck if properly installed you won't be able to push far enough for the mag catch to unscrew it won't clear. Use proper size screwdriver to fit and heat with heat gun.

From my experience a heat gun will not get the bolt/threads hot enough to break the thread locker. A pencil type soldering iron (Radio Shack, Home Depot, etc.) in the 30 watt range works best. Especially if you file the point off the soldering iron tip making it flat. Doing that will allow the best heat transfer to occur.

The heat gun does a great job of heating the whole lower receiver up!

make a tool like this from a .22 shell.

heat the center with a 30 watt or higher soldering iron.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

Worst case, drill out the mag catch from the other side and replace it. I had to do that on one of the BB rifles I've worked on. just drilled carefully through where the catch is pressed onto the pin until i could pull the catch off and the rest just drops out. get a new catch and voila you're gtg. 10 mins tops.

I used a handheld, propane, torch, heated on the top side - with the bullet button facing you, and used a bullet button tool and it unscrewed easily.

My BB is still on as I just wanted to get it loose with my pending - after finding a job - move to WA!

I had to drill one out to install a Radlock. No amout of heat would break it loose. Got to buy a custom engraved replacement mag catch .
