    POF

Welcome to the CAL GUNS forum.Theres Nothing wrong with the rifles themselves,it's the customer service when you do have a problem. The owner's name is Frank,He kinds of is a jerk .I have a POF in .308 .love the rifle. I only had problems with mags, that is until Magpul came out,The problems went away.

^^^I stayed away from POF because of their customer service reputation. I could have scored a new P308 on a closeout at the end of last year, but I passed after researching the company. It's too bad, because I have heard good things about their rifles.

I'm not knocking the gun... but what exactly makes a POF a $2K gun?

Seriously, would just like to be educated.

It's a great rifle I had a P415 years ago with the 9" rail and that was a awesome shooter. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again, as a matter of fact I regret selling it. I have a Knights SR-15E3 Mod 1 that replaced it and they are both great rifles but I wish I had kept the P415 too. And to the poster that asked what makes POF rifles so spendy, they have a piston system that works great and besides the fact their barrels are match grade with fluting usually. The upper, lower and BCG are Nickel plated which is supposed to not need lubricant but I would never try that out lol.

This is why at the beginning of this month I got the "Scar itch" and was gonna trade in my POF 308 to get the Scar, but I fear the buyer's remorse. The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. I have had mine for close to 2 years. Love the fit & finish of the gun. No problem at all, other than the initial hiccups due to the GI mags that come with the gun. Replacing that with the PMAG gen 3 and the problem goes away. The gun is heavy, but deadly accurate though. That's said, I'm not sure if I would pay close to 2K for a slightly used gun. A little browse over GB, OP could have gotten himself one substantially less than 2K.

                  POF 308

Welcome to the forum Timmy. POFs are great rifles. I owned 2 P415s before. One unfired. No malfunctions except when my friend decided to use wolf steel case in it. Some people report no problems but I've seen them first hand. I don't recommend using POF and wolf in the same sentence lest feeding it through. Sold my P415s awhile ago and moved to P308 platform. Same rifle, meaner cartridge.

had one as well but got tired of the customer service issues. i ended up selling the upper of the 415 after it got back from being serviced and kept the lower. theyre def good rifles.

Nice rifles looking rifles. Have been oo'ing and aah'ing over them for years. So I just found recently from a couple sites that POF USA - Patriot Ordnance Factory used to be POF- Pakistani Ordnance Factories??? Can someone confirm that?

I was going to buy a used POF once. I called and asked customer service if they would cover it with their warranty if I had any issues with it going forward.

The guy lauged and said of course they would not support the rifle as they would not know what the previous owner did to it.

Funny, tons of AR companies have transferable warranties. Looks like POF does not.

Good luck if anything breaks on it!

yeah, they sold hk stuff, mostly g3 and mp5 parts. i believe the company was sold to a new owner in the US that changed its name from pakistani to patriot. all their stuff is now built in the us.

                              That rumour floats around occasionally.

Patriot Ordnance Factory is not, nor has ever been associated with the Pakistani company.

Email Response from POF answering this question:::

Patriot Ordnance Factory started right here in Glendale, AZ and has never been or plans to be a Pakastani based company, no offense to Pakastani Ordnance Factory. The Desomma Family moved from Brooklyn, NY to Phoenix, AZ around the late 70s. Frank Desomma started in the areospace industry and was sitting in his garage one night looking at a Fal and an AR 15, and the POF Piston AR design was born. POF-USA takes pride in American Made Products, Manufactured in the USA, as well as materials purchased from American mills and mines. You are correct in that both companies have similar accronyms for thier company names. The only association between the two companies would have been a purchase order or two for HK parts, However we also purchase from Rock Creek as well and I wouldn't consider them the same company.

Further, what customer service issues? I've had zero problems with my rifle so I've never had a reason to contact them?
