    featureless ar grip

i want to build a featureless ar. functionality & cost are considerations. may use an a1 stock or a pinned adjustable. the pistol grip must go. have seen a NY version where the stock grip is cut off just below the trigger guard & epoxied perminant. would this be ok here? i wouldnt epoxie it. i have seen grip covers that go up to the stock. seen the monsterman grip. ive seen a really space age looking stock/grip replacement - too ugly for my taste. what do you experts recomend??

Solar tactical grip wraps , they just go over your current grip . I make all of my own tho since I can't get myself to pay solar 50$ for one

I went with Solar Tactical kydex wraps myself. Featureless is the only way to go in CA!

I buy my .60 kydex on amazon for dirt cheap then heat it in the oven until playable then form it around the grip and trim . Secure it with Chicago screws from amazon as well .

You can only have comp brakes on a featureless gun right?

Any concern that a RO/LEO or others might determine that the angled foreward grip is,,,well a foreward grip? I don't recall seeing any other featureless with that.

Looking at the P.C., I see they state forward "pistol" grip. That's arguably not a "pistol" style grip, but I don't think I would choose to run one on my featureless.

30515. (a) Notwithstanding Section 30510, "assault weapon" also
                  means any of the following:
                  (1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to
accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
                  (A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action
                  of the weapon.
                  (B) A thumbhole stock.
                  (C) A folding or telescoping stock.
                  (D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
                  (E) A flash suppressor.
                  (F) A forward pistol grip.

                  Thanks.

gogohopper, good luck with anyone coming down with a definitive answer to that. I have been trying for two years now and the best I have got is, "try your luck". The AFG is allowed on AR pistols, so why not on a featureless? DoJ won't write up an official ruling so it's still up to the opinion of the officer you run into.

Here is the letter in regards to the AFG and AR pistols.

Here is the letter on a vertical grip and pistols.

I know I am presenting evidence of pistols, not featureless rifles, and I am in no way encouraging you to test the law but that is the information I have.

                      .
I would go with the AW definition of a "pistol" grip, a definition AFG would not fall under.
But of course it takes one overzealous cop/DA and you'll be spending money to prove it in court for minimal benefit.

Thanks, understood. I am in no way trying to tell others if they are right or wrong. I just like the featureless configuration and ANY type of FG is new to me. Here to learn........
