Threaded Barrel End Cap?

If I remove the flash hider and replace with a threaded barrel end cap does it have to be pinned or "welded" for a featureless build?

I assume as long as the barrel is at least 16 inches long there is no need to pin and weld the cap/muzzle device.

Nope, your good. But I would suggest you get a brake instead. I have one with a knurled cap, and it looks a little wonky.

No need. It's not the threaded barrel or the thread protector that's evil, it's the flash supressor

Could I run into trouble with a muzzle break if someone decides its a flash suppressor? This is for a featureless build so don't want any blurred lines.

Oh, when they stand next to you there will be no "blurred" lines. Pretty apparent when most compensators are fired.

I did see Thordo (Thordson Customs) has caps under the NY compliant section if you can't find one elsewhere.

Nice thing about a cap is that nobody can ever argue its a flash-hider. Some brakes & comps do double-duty, or at least are easily confused for something they're not.

I run a thread protector cap on my featureless just to be on the safe side just incase a LEO thinks it is a flashhider. It does look goofy, but goofy outside of handcuffs is better than cool looking inside of handcuffs.
Just my opinion though, I seem to spend lots of time trying to stay out of trouble. You may be more of a thrill seeker than me.......

I have that upper. Runs good.

Usually a Brake will have an exit hole slightly bigger than the bullet.

A flash hider has a big hole.

I don't need a brake on a 5.56 so I just use a thread protector..

Another option is a fake can that's threaded up front and doesn't add to the overall length.
