Hey guys I'm going to need your help on this one. This is the mag release button on my 9mm M1 Carbine (see attached images) that i really want to remove in order to remove the entire lower reciever, so that i can use a different stock.
The issue is that this mag release button is in the way, i can't remove the unit because it bangs up against the wooden factory stock.
This is part #65 on the diagram view. It looks like it would pop right off in the diagram image i've attached, but after trying to gently pry it off, it wont budge. I dont want to risk breaking anything.
I realize this is a new type of rifle, being a 9mm Carbine and all, ive looked up some diagrams of how a 30cal Carbine mag release button is disassembled, it involves springs being pushed back inside the reciever portion, but I dont see anything like this on my rifle, im assuming it has a different build to it.
Is anyone familiar with how I should go about this? Do I apply more pressure and try popping it off? Is there locktite on the button and the mating surface/pin it is attached to?
