LeVang comp works well for me , and the are low cost compared to some others.

all the flash and blast go toward the target , the guy next to you will like it more then you...

I've used the plain unbranded one and the Troy. Both work well.

          I used a strap wrench.

Are you building featureless? That's IMO the ONLY reason to get a linear comp. The flash hiders don't have much more blast and are lighter (and sometimes cheaper).

In terms of compensation, they do NOTHING. Some can increase back pressure to help a shorty function (KX3), and some do a mediocre impression of a flash hider for featureless builds (levang).

Look at Simple Threaded Devices. About the same size as an A2 flash hider.

Not that it's on your list but I'm running a Troy on my featureless build, and it does the job just fine.

I use the Levang, the Troy Claymore and the Kineti-tech. All do what they say, re-direct blast away from the shooter.

The Levang is the most effective, but also the heaviest. I shoot .22LR outdoors with it on a 16" AR and you don't need ear protection.

The Troy Claymore is ligher with less muzzle weight pull. I have one on my Daniel Defense 16" and the 7.5" pistol.

I used the Kineti-tech on the 20". This one is aluminum and is lightweight. It's a 3 section traditional sideways muzzle break with an aluminum removable sleeve. Take that sleeve off and it works pretty good as a break, but very loud. Having it out an extra 4 inches helps. Otherwise, use the sound sleeve.

                  Sawtac B-1

It has the wrench slots. I use it because a suppressor I own is compatible with A2 size hiders/comps. So obviously it isn't huge and it was $50.

I also shoot at an indoor range and am curious to see how noticeable the difference is between an A2 and LC in reducing sound for the shooter and those next to him/her. I'd happily make the plunge if it's worth it.

It's worth it for the shooter. The people on each side of me are on their own. I have 6 AR's here and everyone of them has a Troy, Levang or Kineti-tech mounted.

I can re-experience the original blast waves shooting next to a guy with a flash hider. Usually I request a lane far away from those things.

Hera Arms linear compensator - give it some research. Love mine.

This is the version with a removable "sound sleeve". Put it on and it's pretty quiet. Take it off and it's as loud as any other sideways slotted muzzle brake.

Yes, it's a better brake with the sleeve off, but at least you have the choice. I use it unless I'm stuck next to a guy shooting .308's with a brake. Then I take it off and pay them back.

I'm not into linear comps all that much, but that sawtac B1 looks nice, and the price is a deal.. tempting

All I can say is that taking a shot with a Lavang on my AR w/20" while plugging a varmint is much easier on the ears. IMO it's not needed in a range rifle or anything with a "short" barrel.
