Cuts on barrel...

What's the story with the cuts forward of the front sightpost/gas block in the barrel on the M4 style uppers? This just a weight reduction thing or what? Harmonics?

Ahh makes sense, so they're just selling the Military parts to use civilians cause it's easier for them?

I suppose some folks like the look, to me it seems like a shame to pull metal off the barrel if you don't have to.

Civvies(In Free America, there was a discussion on Calguns about this, but don't remember what the concensus was.) can install 37mm Flare launchers on their M4 and longer barrels.


Funny how the gun in the pic doesn't even use the barrel cuts for it's launcher.

Sure wish we could have em. My thoughts have gone back and forth in the past about the legality of these in CA..

The one in the pic attaches using the picitinny rails, and I think is an actual grenade launcher.

In ca they are considered an AW feature, like flash supressor, collapsing stock, etc.

So if you have a fab10 or registered AW its fine.
