Update - I found a heck of a deal on some new glass.

And I finally sourced a thread protector from Satern that covers the entirety of these awful 9/16"-24 threads.

I haven't shot it since I've pulled the upper apart last weekend at his house, genius.

Please just leave my thread already. Your usefulness has long been used up.

I've never owned a scoped AR and think it would be a lot of fun shooting an AR for accuracy.

                  So am I.
I thought two years away would have been sufficient, was it not?

Shooting tight groups at any distance is fun, but I think it gets better the further out you go. It takes a bit more for a semi auto to be as inherently accurate as a bolt gun, but that's part of the challenge.

Nice Ar. Interested to hear what you think about that round, I've been curious about it for a while.
The actual value of above $.02 is less than $.01 after taxes.

For what I built the gun for its the best caliber available for the AR15 platform, save for any single shot deals in 50 BMG and the like.

The new Grendel II chamber allows for slightly longer seating of the projectiles so you can actually get better velocities than most of what is published, if you reload.

Plus, because its a 6.5 caliber it is inherently accurate like everything else in that family.

Projectile selection ranges from under 100 gr varmint pills to 130 gr VLDs and their .55 BC.

Swapping from 5.56 to Grendel is easy, just a bolt face and a barrel away. Look for Brownells or Midway for house brand combos made by Satern. Model 1 sales sells complete uppers if you're really on a budget.

I'm really quite happy with it, I recommend the caliber to anyone, especially reloaders as they can maximize its potential.
