Problem Transfering In State SKS

Hi All,

I recently purchased a Russian 1953 SKS on Gunbroker. This was not an out of state gun. It came from an FFL in California and was shipped to my local dealer.

After he went about completing the transfer the DOJ is making a lot of problems and asking how many rounds in the magazine and everything.

As I understand, I was purchasing a California legal SKS from an in state dealer. Fixed 10 round magazine. I thought only the detachable mag sporters were illegal. I will attach a few pics. Could someone have a look and kindly let me know if this gun is CA legal. Perhaps the DOJ is confused?

I've never experienced any problems like this. What should I do?

Legal SKS

Somebody's confused. As long as there are no modifications, it should be legal. Maybe the FFL wrote something down wrong? When they were available, even Saiga rifles (with 10 round detachable magazines) were/are perfectly legal.

I own an SKS exactly like the one in the pics. The DOJ is confused.

A friend manages a gun shop

DOJ required pictures of SKS as some are not CA legal.

They required him to submit photos...


Silly but the new long gun system has some quirks.

Did your local FFL make some mistake in the paperwork? I am hardly an expert but seems 100% legal to me.
