Hardest part is the bullet guide. You have to go slow and use a good lube when tapping into the trunnion, this part is the most crucial.
Also a good file or two and a punch set. It is soooooooo much easier/quicker to drill the rivets if you file the rounded tips flat first.

Right, isn't that more or less what i said? I'm doing 2 many things at once lol. The three (+1 in jail) saigas I've got this year all have pins.

I might try a mallet on one. lol. Not the gas blocks though. From the pics on their site It looks like the kvar 74 fsb's don't have the pin hole drilled, is that correct?

I'm sending my Saiga to Denton Tactical. Great shop and fair when it comes to pricing.

            Update:

I reached out to Buellster a couple of weeks ago. Still no reply. I may look into dentontactical.com.

Here's what you need (basic tools)

                Vice
Wood blocks to clamp rifle (do not clamp receiver it will crush)
Drill or Drill press (highly rec') and tapping oil to cool bits
                Dremel with cutoffs
                Chisel
                Hammer
                Assembly lube
                Small galvanize piece of pipe
2 washers big enough to go over the barrel

What I do is drill out the dimples first both sides. Then I use my Dremel and make cuts connecting the drilled out areas. Careful not to go too deep. You can get very close by eye if you are good. Once the cuts are made on both sides to connect the dimples...then use a chisel and open up gaps on one or both sides. Sometimes the gas block will fall apart or need to be spread apart. Then just slide off the parts.

Clean up the metal with some emory cloth...polish it up where they parts once were. Then do the same with the new parts on the inside. There should be no burrs, raised areas etc...

Smear with assembly lube and put the gas block on. Mark barrel for alignment so you don't go too far down, and gas port aligns. Then place the washers (to protect the gas block) and then the pipe over the barrel. You can then tap the GB into place. Pretty much same deal with FSB. You can use drill bits to locate the parts in place where the pins go...then once everything is aligned drive the pins in.

Hardest part is just getting the rifle clamped in tight and not going too crazy with the dremel.

I would like it professionally converted to an AKM clone.
Is there AK gunsmith service in SoCal that I can take it too?
                  I do them.

First off.. Is that your attempt at calling me a flake?

Last week I drove all the way down from Vandenberg AFB, to Santa Barbara in anticipation of using your services. I spent the night at a camp ground north of Goleta. I requested that you call me via phone, so we can further discuss details about what is needed for the conversion.

My calls and texts went unanswered by you and I decided to move on. Yes, you did answer my PM's on calguns. But that was hard to access on the road...

Well since you brought it up to the general public, then I guess so.
Nobody would have been the wiser if you didn't mention it.
I answered your PM that I had all the pins we needed to do the job so we were all set as far as I knew.
It's often too loud in my shop to talk on the phone so I leave the ringer turned off so the phone won't disturb me from my work.

Anyone in the Bay Area / NorCal that can help me with a back end conversion for my .223 Saiga? Close to San Jose/south bay?

I would do it myself but I moved last month and lost my garage/workspace, and would prefer to have it done right with proper tools.
