    AK build

My buddy has the remains of an AK-47 that was previously an unregistered assault weapon. He bought the rifle legally years ago but did not register it when the AWB took effect. He turned in the receiver to LE but kept the rest of the rifle. Now, if he wants to own a legal rifle, can he simply purchase an AK OLL and attach it to the rifle (remembering the pistol grip/bullet button etc).

I have an OLL AR build but have zero experience with the AK, other than my RAA Saiga.

I searched but did not find what I was looking for. Thanks for the help.

Yes, depending on the origin of the parts kit.

There are receivers out there like NDS, etc. Does he have everything but the sheet-metal receiver? Like all the parts including the front and rear trunnions that would have been riveted to the receiver (unless it was a milled gun)?

    Was it Chinese, E.European, other?

IIRC someone here did this with a banned Norinco MAK90. There were several threads about it 6 months ago(?) or so, and now the parts are on a functional off list receiver.

Its not as simple as just attaching it to the Reciever and AK's dont have "OLL's" to my knowledge, but it would be legal to build since he doesnt have the original reciever.
