    Featureless build.

Asking for some knowledge and help here.

So I own a SIG 516 Patrol Rifle in California Configuration.

I am building a lower and want to go featureless. I know the requirements here.

As I read the flow chart I would not be able to but my SIG 516 upper on the featureless lower build and be a legal featureless rifle because the SIG 516 upper has a A2 Flash Suppressor is this correct??

Now if I was to remove the A2 Flash Suppressor and replace it with a muzzle brake this would be legal to but it on my featureless lower. Yes or no??

I am not trying to stretch the law just want to shoot with my old magazines while I save up for the next step which would be a 20 inch bull barrel upper with fine glass for my featureless rifle.

    Thanks

Yes. Remove the flash hider, pistol grip, make the stock fixed and you can drop magazines without a bullet button.

You have everything correct. I just wanted to add that you should make sure the muzzle brake manufacturer does not advertise any 'flash hiding/reduction/etc' capability for whatever model you buy.

              Fail.

First, it's been marketed as a muzzle brake with flash suppressing qualities. Numerous photos have also been posted showing it does "perceptibly" reduce flash. More recently BattleComp just uses testimonials that compare the flash to the A2 flash hider. Still, it's the same thing in the end.

Second, CADOJ doesn't use federal opinion as first guide. See Iggy Chin's testimony in Hunt v. Lockyer which is explained fully here: https://sites.google.com/site/featur...muzzle-devices

Ultimately it will probably require a court case to get final, legal status determination on the BC when used on a featureless rifle. There ARE risks in putting one on a featureless and people need to at least be aware of them and make their own choices. Run one or don't. I don't care. I just can't sit by and let people put out inaccurate info as truth when someone's potential prosecution/incarceration is at stake.

More specifically (as opposed to simply "fail"), they don't go by federal statute (which doesn't exist anymore, since the federal AWB ended) first. See the following: https://sites.google.com/site/featur...muzzle-devices. The problem, specifically to featureless builds, is that BCE has made many public claims about the flash suppressing qualities of the Battlecomp, which means that its very possible for an enterprising DA say that its in fact a flash suppressor and not a muzzle brake. Is having the "optimal" muzzle device worth the risk?

Note that the battlecomp is perfectly legal on a magazine locked rifle, which I'm assuming is what the BCE marketing guys mean when they say its "California legal."

vintagearms not this sad old argument.
Just because you run one doesn't make it legal.

You have been shown evidence and yet you still don't even remember the steps the DOJ takes to determine a device.

Federal guidance is the last thing they check.
