After how many rounds do you guys clean your AR's?

I ran a search but found nothing recent.

I'd like to know how often you guys clean your AR's?

I've seen some guys claim they haven't cleaned their AR's since buying/building (just lubricating the chamber/bcg/ch) with no problems.

I usually clean after every range trip but it is beginning to get tedious.

When it starts jamming. I'm not a gun scrubber. I take several to the range and when one quits I toss it aside.

I clean after every trip. It's the Marine in me, plus I've had a major malfunction once and my m16 exploded. They said it was the ammo but I've been super vigilant about cleaning and inspecting ever since, plus I find it relaxes my brain.

After each range trip. I don't mind cleaning guns. It's relaxing.

I don't know yet, because it doesn't happen. Occasionally I'm swapping parts around on a few of them, then they get wiped off with a rag.

Guns are not allowed to be cleaned.

One of the most popular rules of gun safety is "treat all guns as if they are loaded"
The first rule to cleaning a gun is to never clean a loaded gun.

You cannot clean a gun even if it is unloaded because you would be in violation of treating all guns as if they are loaded.

After each range trip. I can thank the Corps for that.

I clean after 500 rounds usually but if I'm lazy I'll let it go to 1000 rounds. But never more than 1000 rounds just so I can inspect the bolt, carrier keys, etc.

Good 'ol prior service training! Always clean and inspect after use. That way if you REALLY need it, she's ready to toss lead downrange right out of the gun safe. Don't want it jamming after the first ten zombies go down.

Meh, I clean them when I feel like it, or they start to perform poorly.

After every range trip. At the very least you should clean the bore. Fouling collects moisture. Moisture leads to rust. Rust isn't good.

Granted, some people shoot a lot and rebarrel every season. So this is probably mitigated.

Over the years, my cleaning regiment on all my guns (including ARs) has gone from "after every range session" to "when I get around to it". Granted, a lot will depend on the type of gun and ammo you're shooting but most modern ARs will be fine for several thousand rounds or so. Keeping them well lubed, though, is never a bad idea.
