    Colt Carry Handle Question

Just put together a 20" upper with a Colt Carry Handle. It has the 6/3 wheel. If I understand the sight in procedure correctly. 6/3 zeros at 300 yards. As you continue to turn the wheel forward you will see the Z, 4 and 6/3 markings for 400 and 600 meters.

How do I zero for 200M and still use the markings correctly if the dial bottoms out at 6/3??

    Thanks!

I have a PSA carry handle, I've been wondering the same thing. Maybe the markings don't mean what we think they mean? Interested in an answer

There was a great thread on arfcom about the Revized Improvised Battle Zero. Good read! Check it out, it might be what you're looking for.

        I saw the Thread

They are zeroing using a A2 rear sight. This is attached to the upper. My Colt carry handle is a detachable on. It completely bottoms out at 6/3. I can't turn it clockwise or in the "-" zone anymore.

From what I understand its -4 to get to a 50 yards zero. Does it make sense to zero at 6/3 for 200 and remember to add 4 clicks to the 6/3 for 300M, etc?

This link will take you to The New Rifleman.com and an article on 50 meter zero on a 6/3 drum:

The ibz is a great way to sight in your AR15, you just need an allen key and some knowledge.

This link will take you to a M4 Carbine.net thread, and in post #2 is a link to a .pdf from Lt. Colonel Chuck Santose for 50yrd/200meter zero on an 8/3 drum.

I haven't seen the arfcom one yet, but these might help.

In a later post in the arfcom thread the OP talks about doubling all the 'click' changes if using a 6/3 drum. With all the bullet drop charts that thread has a lot of info.

The New Rifleman.com page was the ticket. 6/3 drum is now set up for -4 at 200. Thanks PhillyGunner!

Depending what you are using your rifle for, you can set it up a little different too. I built mine as strictly a range gun to become more proficient with my iron sights. I set my carry handle to bottom out at -7 clicks. I didn't like how the bottom click sat the sight directly on top of the handle and you don't feel the positive last click. I then zerod for 50/200 yards to be at -4 clicks......just like the Santos's IBZ. 100 yards is -6 clicks.....and the 3, 4, 5, and 600 meter index marks still get me on steel at Angeles out to the 600 yard targets with m193. If I were setting it up strictly for a fighting gun.... I probably would just stick to the regular Santose IBZ...... The 2 inch fluctuation from 0 to about 250 yards is negligible. And of course it's not perfect because of the yards/meters difference.....but my shooting skill will affect my poi more than that difference will. I've heard of some carry handles not being able to give enough elevation to get to 600 yards. Mine is a spikes tactical, and even bottoming out at -7 clicks.......it still gives me 5 clicks past the 600 meter mark
