Heads up. ZQ ammo is magnetic ( Wally World )

So I picked up some boxes of this stuff at the local walmart and proceeded to " A Place to shoot ". I put 10 down range ...accuracy not bad . The friendly old dude walks by and checks my ammo . It's magnetic ! I had purchased two boxes before and they come in brass case so I assumed ( I was USMC , I know about ASSuming ) that it was good to go . I was so embarrassed , I put away my AR and shot my 10/22 takedown and a couple hundred rounds of .22
Oh well, gonna have to save that ZQ for rosamond.

No way . I never thought to check either.

Not magnetic. Just tested som ZQI 7.62x51 with both a regular magnet and a rare earth magnet. Neither stuck to the casing or the bullet.

Have not tested the 5.56x45. It's possible that it is steel core.

Probably a bi-metal jacket, not steel core. I haven't tested the ZQ1 5.56 catridge either.

Their web site says their 5.56 has SS109 style bullets with steel and lead cores. It also says their 7.62x51 has lead cores. That's why a magnet sticks to the 5.56 and not the 7.62.

Be nice if they mentioned it on the box , I'll just carry a magnet with me from now on
