Idea for FAL style rifles to use detach mags legally..

How about this one for all you FAL guys that have HiCaps and can't use them:

1/32" thick sheetmetal "box" (blue lines) with a rear mounted dummy trigger held in place with the PG stud and the bottom stock screw (at the tang)... You'd put it on and it would cover the original trigger which would have a hole drilled in it for the pull rod (also using Z bends)

If you use a South African XL-Long stock you get a perfect length of pull. Would be especially cool with a short gas system and 16" BBL....

In issue 60 dated 6/5/2006 of the shotgun news, there is an article about building a sten "Mk 2.5" in which the author uses an AR 15 trigger in exactly the same way. He just made up a transfer bar back to the original trigger from the AR fire control group. In our case it would be the opposite, we would need a secondary trigger to pull and keep the standard FCG.
I seems like it would work, so who's gonna try to fab something up?

This looks like something Mud could cook up. Maybe he could do a prototype for you. I like it, and I do have lots of 20 round mags for my FAL.

I could build it too, I'm just not that motivated

          Thanks for the tips/comments

Why don't you just put a sporter stock on it and fill in the hole; just like some people here are doing to their OLL's.

The trigger pull on my FAL is so bad I bet it'd eat a system up like that in nothing flat. But I do run a CNC plasma cutter and could make up a bunch of the sides for the box. I like the idea of filling the butthole stock better though.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

You can either send it to Rich at CGW and he'll do a trigger job for you (mine is a lot better from a stock trigger) or you can get the Falcon reduction trigger (have no personal experience with those, but supposedly the second generation version is pretty good).

I do have one...but it would be pretty ugly that way, lol

                  Thanks for the input!
