    Rifle ID

Alright, the last time I needed to find out what rifle I had, you guys came through with flying colors. So, let's give it another go.

I have what I believe to be a sporterized 1903 Springfield. My pops gave this to me years ago. He acquired it from a friend's widow upon his passing. It's been buried in the back of my locker for quite some time. The finish at one time was awesome. But, due to improper storage by the original owner, it has some pretty serious pitting in the finish. I recently came across it while moving my collection to a proper safe. I plan on doing a resto.

The action looks to be the same as my 03A3, only all the edges have been blended and the bolt handle modified. What I'd like to know is how to tell the difference in manufacturers. The receiver has a serial number(3227765), but no manufacturers marks that I can see(I did remove the scope mount, but there's nothing under there). My google fu of the serial number leads me to believe that it is a 1942 Remington. Can anybody confirm this?

    Here's a couple of pics:

It also had this old time scope mounted up. The scope is marked: Tel Sighting No. 32 Mk1 1942. Does anybody know anything about this old scope? The thing weighs probably a pound by itself with lots of brass used in it's construction:

    What do I have here?

    Any comments appreciated.

The scope is off of a WWII Enfield sniper rifle. They are pretty valuable. I think the Mk1 is even more rare than the other No. 32 scopes.

Forum member mj1 can probably give you more info, or he might just post a bunch of pictures of his No.32 scopes instead.

Thanks for the info on the scope. I'm assuming it would be worth restoring then . Too bad the Enfield that I have is sporterized, I'd mount the scope on it. Maybe I'll buy another Enfield(I did just apply for an 03 FFL ) and build a sniper out of it.

I'll contact mj1 to see what he has to say about it.

      Thanks again.

I also would like to know what type of 03 this is, my dad has the same rifle but his is from arsenal, he purchased it in 1976. These look different from all the other 1903's Iv'e seen, and have always been curious to what type of rifle this is.
