    AR Bolt ?

I was just searching through some forums and found a thread about ar bolts shearing. How likely is this to happen? I get that machines break eventually but I really want to get at least 5-10,000rds down the tube before stuff starts breaking. Anybody experience this?

BTW: The bolt I have in my ar is a Carpenter 158 HP/MP shot peened bolt

it is usually the result of over pressured ammunition or EXCEPTIONALLY high round counts....with the bolt you have...I'd say the possibility is very unlikely.......the possibility is statistically insignificant......

During the shortage, there were hundreds of bolts sold that did not have the proper QC done on them and were prone to shearing. Typically it doesn't happen often with quality parts, but doesn't hurt to have an extra spare laying around.

Not something I've experienced in all my years of shooting. Also not a problem I remember hearing much about.

I had my first Colt AR15 in 1972 and in all the years since...Including my time in the Army the only sheared locking lug I've ever seen was on an AR that a local customer managed to chamber and fire a 300 Blackout round through a5.56 barrel.......and it only rounded the lugs......split the upper and the bolt carrier though.
