    AMD-65 help

So I just picked one up and I want to swap the forend. I know it needs a custom gas tube but what are my options for the bottom half?

A standard AK handguard should work fine.

I like the steel handguard. Different from all of the others. As long as it's standard length lower handguard, youll be fine.

The handguard retainer has 2 alignment pins that won't allow you to use a different handguard. So there's a couple options

1.Drill some reliefs in the front of your new wooden handguard and slip it on
            or
2.remove alignment pins from the current handguard retainer
            or
3.unpin front sight and gas block and put on a handguard retainer w/o the alignment pins

I would leave an AMD 65 as close as possible surplus to be correct. Metal handguard, double pistol grip, wire folder, and a 13" barrel with a pin welded extended CNC brake. But that's me tho'.
