Need input on upper choice

Which is a better buy for my first AR build? I'm looking for an 16" M4 upper and I'm planning to mount optics later(aimpoint or eotech). CMMG is there because I want to match it with my CMMG lower

All of the above are basically THE SAME.

One note tho... I originally got a STAG 16" 1x9 , and I ended up switching to a COLT(barrel) M4-profile 16" 1x7.... you don't need to go for a COLT, but just consider going for a 1x7 barrel (if $$ permits).... x9 and x7 aren't too different, but all the military M4s have 1x7 twist rate... and you will need x7 if you ever want to shoot "heavy" rounds, ie. 70gr+, like 75gr, 77gr, 78gr etc.... And then if you are shooting 55gr M193 or 62gr M855.... both will have similar performance....

Why don't you get LMT upper? It's much lighter than RRA Entry Tac.

That may be true but they shoot about the same. I would buy something that has a muzzle brake and not a flash suppressor considering then you can go gripless if you want an unlocked Mag.

I went Stag 1x9 100%.

I'm rocking a CMMG upper. I'm very happy and will be ordering another shortly. I went with a 14.5" M4 profile chambered in 5.56. They also soldered on a Phantom 2 flash hider.

I like the 16" M4 setup the best, I think it's a great first Upper. Then get a 20"A2, 18" Bull, 6.8SPC, etc...
