    PTAC 16" M4 1:7 Upper Qustions?

So Palmetto State had a sale on their M4 uppers for $199.99 on friday. So i picked one up. But now after reading some reviews i'm a little concerned. Does anyone out there have one? What's your opinion?

I have read and heard mixed opinions. Some have had zero issues, while others have fun into issues. One guy said the barrel nut was only hand tight on his PSA upper.

If it has a warranty do not worry. If there is a problem simply send it back.

I received a PTAC from them a few days ago. 1 in 9", mid-length upper. It was my first time shooting 5.56 and it was only from 50 feet at an indoor but I had no problems in 120 rounds of 55 gr. XM193. I can't really give a fair review of the accuracy because I don't know how accurate A.E. XM193 is suppose to be & again it was my first time shooting an AR in 5.56/.223, standing.

I got the same upper with bcg/charging handle. It's been great. Don't worry.

I have over 1k rounds through mine with zero problems. You should check out any rifle regardless of brand before you fire it anyways. I've had top name brand stuff that has had to go back because of quality issues. We're only human. PSA is a good company that I personally never had a problem with other than their shipping time. I've bought numerous AR parts from them and 3 PTAC uppers. Zero issues. For $200, that's a steal and it should put a grin on your face for years to come once your build is finished.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm not looking for a tack-driver just something i can take out to the range a few times a year and have fun with. This my first venture into the AR platform.
By the way it's being paired with a New Frontier complete lower.

I bought one in Dec. It's been as good as my Del-ton in every respect.

I have what I would consider a higher end AR, and I also have a PTAC.

It's a 16" carbine barreled upper with no bore treatment as far as I know; it was advertised as only being a phosphated barrel. Non-chrome lined 5.56 chambering. 1:9 twist rate. A4 ramped extension with no M4 cuts on the receiver. SS12G2 handguard, a PTAC BCG, & a milspec charging handle. It's my beater and it's what I shoot most often.

The barrel and the BCG are definitely not the highest-end looking parts when compared to a bravo co BCG or a Noveske barrel, but when it comes to performance, they become difficult to differentiate.

I shoot exclusively Tula 223 55g out of it, and it eats it up as good as any brass cased factory loads. Now I'm certain the PTAC barrel will get shot out far sooner than my bcm, but so far I have 4,000 rounds more or less thru the ptac, and it hasn't showed any signs of loss in accuracy, at least at 100 yards. 3-4 moa with a 2moa non magnified red dot. I don't care or consider accuracy beyond that distance with this particular rifle as I have it set up for close range off-hand shooting.

I have not once had a stuck case of steel in my chamber. Or a malfunction for that matter. Cleaning takes a bit longer, being that nothing is chrome lined, but cleaning an AR15 is stupid simple regardless.

The appearance/specs of the gas block, barrel, and bcg are the 3 main components where I feel they obviously did the very least possible to create a fully functioning part. With that being said, they're fully functional.

All in all, it's an excellent low budget, entry level, beginner or beater AR15 upper. If you have a bigger budget and want to own something nicer in build quality and overall fit & finish that has a better chance of impressing your friends, definitely get something better and more expensive. There's a visually noticeable difference in quality.

                    Just my $.02
