Barrel work

So I found this barrel contour called flat skipped and thought it was cool. My question is if you had paid for a spikes lothar barrel would you send it out to have this done? Here is the link to Hart barrels...

Hart makes good barrels so if there is a problem with the barrel I would suspect that it is an issue with the barrel it self and not the fluting. Many folks talk about how bad turning a barrel down and fluting is but I have had it Donne with a negligible affect on accuracy.

I mentioned nothing of a problem, I was looking for a direct answer to the situation I posed. If you had A(in perfect condition BNIB), would you send it to be contoured B, to end up with C

My suggestion is not have an an existing one done because there might not be enough meat on the bone to do it. Also they likely won't do that profile on a barrel they didn't make.

The general consensus seems to be not to flute button rifled barrels after rifling, if in fact you have a button rifled barrel. However damon makes the good point that in practice there may not be a problem.

It is unlikely that Hart would flute another company's barrels.

In answer to your direct question: No. I think fluting is a complete waste of time and money.
