AR scope mounts & bipod ??

I just ordered a super sniper scope for my RRA Varmint 20". I'm not used to an AR at all. It don't feel right when I hold it, but I'm trying to get used to it. The height of the 30mm RRA cantilever sights are 1.653 and that height feels good to me while standing and holding the gun. I want to buy a bipod, but don't know what height or brand. So I stacked a bunch of phone books on the floor and laid or sat in different positions around the house. At that time, the 1.653 felt a little high. Question is, what height rings do you guys use if you have a bipod? I have a little education on rings but totally new to bipods. I think most of time I will be laying gun across hood of pick up or the pick up tool box behind cab to shoot at squirrels as I drive along. But importantly, I'd like to be able to lay flat on ground if need be to shoot w/ this thing. Any reccomendations or experiences w/ height on bi pods and scopes would be appreciated. ??

i have a 6-9" bi pod that works well on my ar (and all my rifles). its enough height that my 30 rounders are not touching the ground. and comfortable enough while shooting prairie dogs. that swfa ss on your rra is going to be a nice setup. your rifle and scope are high quality so you might as well sick with the high quality and get a harris bi pod. the harris bi pod can tilt so if the ground is uneven you dont have to fool with adjusting one leg to level it.

edit: oh and post some pics when your all done

thanks again on that. I got the 12 power coming being the 10 powers are on backorder. I'll look into the bipods on ebay or whatever.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/151229576412...84.m1423.l2649 I'm trying to understand what a living hinge is? I'm guessing they are saying the two torx 15 allow you to slide the amount of cantilever in or out? Am I right? I will put a link to the other mount I'm thinking about. The other one appears to be one solid piece, which makes my unknowingly common mind think it'd be more rigid. Please give me your thoughts on this. Both these are slightly lower height than the rra mount.

http://swfa.com/SWFA-SSALT-30mm-Scope-Mount-P58814.aspx This is my other choice that I mentioned from my previous post a few minutes ago. It appears the length of the clamping coupler to picatinny is shorter though. ??
