    Linear compensator for POF P-308

    Hi all,

I have a POF P-308 that isn't winning me many friends at the range. The stock compensator creates a huge muzzle blast.

I've been told that a linear compensator will direct the blast downrange rather than to the sides.

Does anyone have any experience with these on a 7.62/.308 rifle?

My research threw up brands like Kies, Kaw Valley, Levang ... Are there any more? Do these things work?

    Many thanks.

Reports are that they do work pretty well at directing sound downrange. Lots of youtube videos on these. .308 make a huge fireball.

Don't put a linear compensator on it. Get a regular A2 type muzzle device. Also, I've heard that the POF's use a weird flash hider nut to secure their muzzle brakes so might want to read up on that.

You're better of with a $400 .308 unless you plan on taking out taliban from 2000 yards away haha

It's a range. If they don't like the blast .... Well too bad

I use Kaw Valley linear comps on my pistol builds (556 and 300AAC) and the work great!! But.. I shoot a JP comp on my 308 and yes it barks.. lol

I don't shoot it around others normally, so I have no worries there. I'm sure the KV comp would make a huge difference for you! The 308 comp I have on my 300 pistol is threaded 5/8-24 for a standard 308 barrel thread (or 300black).

Thanks for the answers everyone. Much obliged.

Anyone else got any other helpful advice?

Hoop: what is your rationale for putting an A2 type flash hider on rather than a linear comp?

And I'll certainly look into the nut type too. Thank you especially for that.

I use Keis Blast Master, because the barrel is 16". No complaints from shooters next to me so far, but they always ask "what is that you're shooting?" Lol
If you had to use it IRL would you want it to blast your ear drums out?
