Mosin Nagant Scope Mount Install. Difficult?

I ordered this scope mount for my 91/30 that I'm picking up on the 16th:

Cheaper Than Dirt! is America's Ultimate Shooting Sports Discounter, and we live up to that title. Expect bulk ammo deals, discounts, gun care accessories and more

It comes with the drill bits, tap, and all the hardware. It also includes the bent bolt handle, which also needs to be installed.

Are there any tips or tricks I need to know about the installation?

My main concern is making sure the holes on the top of the receiver are drilled straight and centered, because that would defeat the whole purpose of having a scope mount if the mount is crooked. I have the little screw-on depth limiters for the drill bits, so I'm not worried about drilling too deep, I just want to make sure it's mounted straight.
I'm going to try to find someone that has a drill press that I can use, because I wouldn't trust myself doing it with a hand drill.

If all else fails, how much do you think a gunsmith would charge for the installation?

    ATI Installation

I have never installed the ATI mount kit but have had experience with the Darrel's scout mounts for the Nagant. In my opinion, that is the only mount that really works with the Mosin.

Before my mount purchase, I throughly studied the ATI kit and found it to be unlikely to really work. First, as you have mentioned, it will require sawing off the original bolt and tap in a "bent bolt" replacement. If you have shot your Nagant, you probably know the amount of force require to open the action after a shot is huge, the single tap for the ATI kit will probably break or rotate off place after just a few cycle.

The problem extend to the mount as well. 54R is a pretty powerful round. The amount of force involved will also likely break the 2 taps on the mount. Not to mention if drilled too deep, hot gas in the face possibility.

There are already made forged bent bolt for sale, for about $40~$50 online. You can also sent in your existing bolt for mod so the head space is exactly right.

I have shot over 1000+ rounds with Darrel's scout mount, and the thing is solid . They might be a bit expensive, but considering the a sub-MOA performance with one of the most inexpensive rifle on the market. I believe theis little bit of investment is worth it. Gun smithing the Mosin with ATI kit is probably going to cost more than those two parts combined

    Good luck ~
