I think it looked better before. Not saying it looks bad now mind you.

The new stock gives it a different character. I like them both.

I don't know I think im liking the new stock more. I do like that original stock though. I'm torn between the two now that I think of it.

I like the look of the new one better. Old looks good, but it's bland. Nice rifle...

1st Photo: Sold a stainless loaded on with a similar laminated stock a while back.
2nd Photo: Went Distinguished on this one, planning to be buried with it (JK, maybe). Built on an older Smith receiver w/ NM markings, before his kid took over. Has a Obermeyer barrel, not common for service rifles, cleaned a 600yd stage once with it.
3rd Photo: SM I put together with a double lugged receiver and Kreiger extra heavy barrel, needed quite a bit of inletting to make the barrel fit, never could get the matching wood handguard to fit.

BTW, what happened to the sling swivel on the original stock?

I like the look of the laminate stocks. Ads a little pizazz to gun that was/is about as utilitarian in the looks department as any gun ever made. Both the original and the laminate sure look good to a guy who was not smart enough to buy one of those m-14s back in the day when standard mags were reasonable and available. Both my buddy and I have hk-91's. Every time we take them out the subject of our screw up regarding our lack of m-14 ownership comes up. Damn it.

Ick, looks like crap. You should put that rifle back in the original stock and send the laminated one to me, so you don't have to look at it anymore.

Out of curiosity, what did you have to give for the laminate?

A gentleman on the M14 Forum was selling a package deal: Stock, Basset high mount & rings, Blackhawk cheek-riser & G.I. sling for $310. I didnt even haggle. Everything was pretty much new.

Nice score, really looks good. Now I've been sniffin around looking at laminate stocks at Fulton, etc... My wife decided she liked dachan's black laminate. This might get expensive.....
