    Calegalmags 10\30 AK Pmags

Has anyone ordered the 10\30 AK pmags from Calegalmags? I just ordered two.

If so, how are they "permanently" modified? The site says they may not be disassembled, but what exactly does that mean? Sonic weld the base on? Rivet through the base plate? Will these be reversible with a bunch of work if I go out of state?

I wish the Magpul ones were in stock. I will be buying a few of the Tapcos they have on there since they're just rivited. Thanks for the heads up.

          From their web site:

"The base plate is sealed shut permanently and can not be opened without destroying the magazine."

Nothing wrong with the Tapcos. Regardless of the inter webs, they work fine. Never had a problem with them with various AKs or AK hybrids.

If you go out of state or want to use it to rebuild mags you already own then grind of the floor plate and replace it with a ranger floor plate.

                  Well this is interesting.

Thanks for your order. There will not be any feedback on the 10/30 AK mags yet since they were only added to the website two days ago and are just now shipping out to customers today.

No you can not take them apart without destroying the magazine as stated in the product description. An industrial polymer adhesive is used to secure the base plate to the magazine body.

If you could take them apart and make them into a high cap mag it would not be "permanently altered" per CA law.

What does "permanent" mean exactly? The DOJ does not provide a definition so it is open to interpretation.

I take the law very seriously and I go the extra mile to make sure that the modified magazines I sell can NOT be taken apart without destroying the magazine. It is not worth the consequences to take any chances.

Hope this answers your questions. Let me know how you like the mags after you have had a chance to try them.

As for Calegalmags qualifications in modifying magazines, I have been modifying Magpul Pmags as a full time job since 2007. I modify each and every magazine myself. And it is safe to say I have modified more Pmags than anyone else in the world. You can buy with confidence.

I added this to the product page today:

Calegalmags modifies these Magpul Pmag magazines to 10 round capacity internally. We manufacture our own proprietary limiters which we insert into the magazine to limit capacity to 10 rounds maximum. The limiters are chemical and heat resistant and will never break or fail. In addition to the limiter we also seal the bottom of the magazine closed "permanently" with a industrial grade polymer adhesive (no rivets or blind pins). This magazine can not be taken apart without destroying it! The magazine spring inside maintains full length of travel in the magazine body and is not restricted in any way with our modification.

I wouldn't worry about that too much... IMHO, more trouble than it's worth; if you do end up moving out of state just sell the 10/30's here on calguns and buy yourself some standard capacity mags.
