I recently purchased an SKS off of Royal Tiger for $199 with a broken stock. I thought this was an amazing deal because I was planning on replacing the stock anyways and it's at least $100 off. What I'm finding out is that if I throw a new stock on it (non oem) I will be non compliant with PC 922r. From what I've read, Tapco makes a 922r compliance kit, but of course it has a detachable mag, which Kommiefornia will **** a brick over. I can't seem to find anyone who makes a fixed 10 round American made mag for these guns. I have read I can go with a Dragunov stock instead, which doesn't make sense to me because other posts are stating that it must remain in "original configuration." Can anyone offer any advice here? Either correct any misinformation I have, or offer a site that sells a fixed 10rd mag made in the USA?

This is a bunch of BS and this 922r nonsense doesn't seem to offer any logical purpose and I'm getting the impression this is a lobbyist created law used to steer customers toward US made weapons. You guys are always a great help, thanks in advance.

Tapco used to make a 10/20 pinned magazine that you had to remove the trigger to remove the magazine. I emailed tapco last year about one, they said the quit making them but still had a few lying around so I bought one.

They work fine, but a little harder to use stripper clips on but I just hand load anyway.

The whole 922r thing is more of an import regulation IMO, I have never heard of anybody getting "popped" for having one part out of compliance so I wouldnt stress over it IMO

I hear you, what are the chances of getting busted, a cop would have to seize my gun and strip it to know. But I seem to get in trouble for everything I do and it carries a 10 year prison sentence. It's a very risky, albeit unlikely situation.

I'm having trouble understanding something else too. From what I've read, chinese sks' have been illegal to import since 1994. And additionally, it has a bayonette ehich makes it a non sporting rifle. So 1. How are they being sold by AIM, CIA and RTI? And 2. How is it considered a sporting rifle with the bayonette? Someone who knows their **** please chime in. The last thing I want is to get put in a federal pound me in the *** prison because these convoluted laws are to hard to understand.

first off... using "another" stock does NOT make it fall under 922r

using a pistol gripped stock does i would guess. if i were you id buy a cheap wood stock, or a nice "jungle" stock. you can use a russian stock since its cut for a blade rather than spike. i can buy sks stocks for $5 here in michigan at gun shows

as far as how these guns are available again....heres why. although the chinese importation started after 1994, these rifles were held in a neutral country so they were exempted from the ban and allowed to be imported. these were a communist china "gift" to the albanians

there are only 14 "parts" of an SKS rifle as it sits. 922 says you need to have no more than 10 of them foreign if you switch it up. a US made trigger group alone....is 5 parts

but again, 922 does NOT apply to swapping for a NOS stock....just a PG stock

Extra wood take-offs are a dime a dozen. loads of people have put synthetic stocks on their rifles. They're laying around at gun shows.

Replacement Montecarlo type stocks, similar to the factory stock, are available in plastic that improve the length of pull for guys with a 32/33" sleeve length.

The NEVER to cross redline with these rifles is to switch to a detachable mag, like the one pictured below. Instant CA assault rifle once installed.

Nordic- until now I've been an AR only guy so I know how weird CA is about detach mags. You'd think being able to pull your mag in 3 seconds automatically classifies you as a mass murderer by their logic. There are so many fuzzy areas it makes my head spin, I thought AR's were complicated to own.

the original trigger group in your rifle is the best you can get tho....only swap it conform to 922r

that trigger group is a milled russian trigger group, worth about $150

the us ones arent as smooth

God this 922r law is so rediculous. A lot of people are saying that this law was created for importers but I would never doubt Uncle Sam would bust me on it if they were so inclined. I definitely don't want to swap out a good trigger with a crap trigger. Maybe it's just best to stick with a hunter style stock, a Boyd's if available. If anyone has and other recommendations I'm all ears.

he will need a blade cut to be "vintage" corect , a spike will work, not the other way around tho. and for that price i'd take it, and not be vintage correct

I will have no issues cutting a blade slot I'm pretty handy with that sort of thing. I'd love to have a Boyd's or timber smith style stock but Boyd's doesn't seem to make one and timber smith is outrageously expensive and I can't find a lefty. What would be the cheapest part I could replace to meet compliance? If I could find a USA made disconnector or something I could just grab a stock and call it a day right? I'd like to go relatively cheap, the boss already doesn't like the gun habbit and if I wanted to spend $500 I'd just buy an AK
