    Marlin 795 problem - help.

My Marlin 795 completely stopped firing. Seems as if the trigger will not reset. The trigger simply will not budge. I am no gunsmith but I kinda understand the workings of guns - well glocks and ARs. I checked the action but I didn't see anything out of place or broken. Any ideas?

Take a look at the attached photo (sorry is so blurry).

Sometimes the hammer can be pushed back too far. When that happens the hammer strut binds the hammer because it is now pivoting the wrong way. To fix it, disassemble the rifle and get two screwdrivers. One to push on the sear (the L-bracket looking thing behind the hammer strut/strut spring/hammer) and one to wedge between the hammer and hammer strut spring. It doesn't take a whole lot of effort to get the hammer to pop up once the sear is depressed.

Did you mail in the warranty card to Marlin when you purchaased the rifle?

If you did, it is covered by a 5 year warranty, and you can send it to Marlin for repair : http://www.marlinfirearms.com/custom...rt/repairs.asp
