    LR308 Scope Mount Question

Two firearms one is a S&W MP10 the other will be a Mega Maten, both with 18" barrels and estimated ranges wanting to shoot will be out to at least 500 yards. I know I want a LaRue mount but am unsure of which one to use. I keep seeing people speaking of getting a mount or base with the 20 MOA elevation built in but is this needed for the two applications above and if so which mount would fit that best?

Most likely going to be using one of these two scopes. The Leupold will be on the Mega and the Weaver on the SW

500 yards with a quality scope you should be fine with a 0 MOA mount. Also take a hard look at ADM. I was set on LaRue as well until I saw the almost unlimited options ADM offers. Also has a level lock on both levers not just one like the larue, more surface area on the rail (Better for return/hold of zero) and is about $80 to $100 cheaper and lighter.

Besides all that which I realized after my purchase what really sold me is LaRue like many companies seem to be set with their product line. ADM is looking to take over the mount game and are looking into offering more mount options.

I know its not what you asked but I was in your same position a week ago. I just want you to be sure the LaRue is the ONE you want. Again I sided with ADM.

All advise appreciated. Got a link to ADM, also what if I want to step out further say to 800 yards? Basically at what point do I need the 20 MOA mount?

        I went with the AD-Recon-20MOA

Just so you know it took me a min to realize this the scout is a 1 lever mount and the recon is the duel lever system is why they are different. But other than that they are the same mount and have the same options. I'd opt for the duel again due to more contact surface for a better return/ hold to zero.

For 800+ yards mYbe even 600 is where I'd start to definitely recommend a 10 or 20 MOA amount for a 308 for most scopes. All depends on your internal scope adjustments available but about 700 to 800 I'd say a MOA base is almost a must.

A little more info on my YT channel. Did a build video I think I note and unbox the mount in part 5. I got mine from midway and saved $10 from going direct IIRC

If you can go 20MOA scope mount, go with that. For me, my 308 gasser is going to be an up to 1K gun, and in reality, more of a 800 yd gun so I dont necessarily need the 20MOA.

It doesnt necessarily hurt to have it though. To each his own.

I agree, I would rather have it and not need or use it than to need it and not have it. So back to my question which mount in both Larue mount?

            Is this the correct mount

I agree with adding the 20MOA mount. To reverse the question..... why wouldn't you want a 20 MOA mount on an LR308?

this one in a 20MOA. On an AR platform, I think you want the offset so that your mount is attached to the upper receiver only and not overlapping the handguard potentially.
