    Walmart .223 Federal VP!

I was just out at one of the local Walmarts in Lancaster and went to "browse" the prices on ammo in the sporting goods department. Saw a new addition to their usual ammo selection, and at a decent price. It is Federal .223 55 gr. FMJ ammo in 100 round value packs for $39.97/box! That figures out to about $8.00 per 20 rounds if you want to compare it to other brands of 20 round boxes of .223 ammo. This is cheaper than what the Remington .223 55 gr. FMJ in the green/white boxes were going for a few months ago ($8.67 per 20 round box IIRC. Now it's about $9.47/box). Just thought you guys might want to take advantage of this before the prices go up,.........................again.

Did I buy any? Nope, but I almost did. But I stood there for a minute and did a little calculating and figured that I could still reload about 200-250 rounds of .223 for a little less than the $39.97 price of the value pack.

      wm vp

The price is better, but the brass is not too good. The primer pockets are loose after one firing, soft brass. Sportsmans Warehouse has wolf cheap, a little over 5 bucks. I would buy this since reloading the Fed VP is hit and miss with the crap brass. I have heard that the 200 rnd vp has LC brass, which is better -but I havent inspected the 200 vp yet.

I was in a Walmart about a week ago and I mentioned that the ammo case looked a little light. The employee said they had new items coming in, I didnt see a 100 pack of 223 at the time.

                  These

are common in Nv.. Wal Mart has good pricing on ammo with a decent selection and OHHHH yeah. They are located just about everywhere. They get a bad rap but without them the hunting/shooting/fishing community would have very little exposure to the general public and have to pay much higher prices.
