a 100yd target would be a bit bigger, but no reason you can use the same one. I like shoot-n-see style targets for sighting in initially

Hope that helps a bit. I prefer a gridded target for setting zero but anything works really.

With a 50 yard zero you will have to hold under a bit at 100 yards.

If you're going to start at 100 yds, you might get lucky and get on paper, or you might be in for a long day.

Starting at shorter ranges can get you close, then fine tune at the longer range.

Sight for +/-1.5" low at 25 yds = approximate 100 yd zero.

This will give you over/under for various zeros:

Here are some PDF targets for download.:

I wanted to share these with the INGO community: I have created a series improved 25M zero targets (based of the standard US Military 25M zero target) that will allow the shooter to zero for 50/200M, 100M, and 300M using a 25yd/M range. The diferent targets are calibrated for both 20" full...

        Cheers.

At the very least, use a laser bore sighter to adjust windage first. That way you just need to look for the hole up and down.

Also, I'd suggest zeroing in a 25 yards and then go out to 50 or 100 ... I mean, save yourself some ammo!

Unless you bore sight, start at 25 yrds. It will make things much easier. Once you get on paper and reasonably close, you can go straight to 100 yards to finish.

So if I sight my "precision" rifle zero at 50 it will shoot like a "combat" right ? About 2" high at 100.

Put your target out at 100 yards, preferably one with a large black bulls eye, something you can see easily with the naked eye at 100 yards. Remove the bolt/carrier from the AR and set the rifle on a very sturdy rest, or sandbags front and back. Look down the barrel and adjust the rifle on the bags so the bull is centered in your view through the barrel.

Now, carefully and without moving the rifle, adjust your scope so the cross-hairs are centered on the bull. Put the bolt/carrier back in and shoot.

I guarantee you'll be in the black.

I've done this several times with iron sights, so it should work even better with a scope.

I would bore-sight it at 25 yards at home first(I am on 5 acres so have room).
Then zero at range at that distance.
From there you can set to your preference.
