SO I am new to the AR scene and am hearing different things about the bullet buttons. I hear that the prince-50 is a little more "risky" as far as being legal because it can be backed out with the screw and the bullet button is better because it is "fixed" in place. My question is which is the best choice for CA legal AR's?

Best bullet button?

The Prince-50 isn't really risky - I think that's a line that was used back when people were really resistant to bullet buttons as a talking point for the Bullet Button. If you don't check your screws or bolts they all can back out and make an accidental AW.
By the way, the Prince50 isn't a bullet button. Bullet button refers to the capability to drop mags using a tool.
There are really only 2 out there - the bullet button by Prince and the B-15 by Toolbox X via Prince.
Advantages of B-15: quicker conversion to standard mag release when going out of state.
Advantages of BB: $10 cheaper and looks more like regular regular release (no covering).
I like them both and own them both. My current favorite is a traditional bullet button with the speed funnel to ease finding the hole with the tool. I want Grant to add a funneling to the B-15.

I like them both. I use the Prince 50 because I travel out of state and like my AR to ready to go. It does covert from a Komiefornia gun to a free gun pretty fast. I may not like the laws but I do obey them.Protect your integrity like you would protect your life.Comment

I stole these pics from Wes @ Tenpercentfirearms:
Here's a "Bullet Button"
B-15 (cage goes around the standard mag release so it acts like a BB in CA and a regular mag drop outside):
Here's a Prince50 (set screw keeps the mag from being able to be dropped. TOP LOAD ONLY - never remove magazine in CA. Very quick to convert outside CA)
Lastly, the speed funnel which goes over the standard Bullet Button and allows the tool to quickly find the release (you don't have to stop and look):

I might be partial, but the funnel set up really is nice. It hasn't caught on, but I think it's because people haven't tried it. With a BB you have to actually look when you're using your tool. With the funnel you can just stick it in without paying attention. <-- sounds dirty, sorry.
