SHTF all in one AR?

This question occurred to earlier this week, is there one type of ar that can be considered all-in-one SHTF type AR?

I mean best type of barrel, sights, length, etc...?

Best is subjective.
I like a full length 20" rifle. Some prefer a carbine.
Some like a "KISS" rifle. Some like a lot of addons.
There is no best.
Understand what you're looking to do with the rifle, and build it from there to suit your tastes.

I would have to say ALL of them are suitable for SHTF...

Its up to you how you want to use it, what you prefer or dont prefer, etc.

Some people dont mind certain things while others hate it. Here are things you need to figure out for yourself, then build one or find one thats got all these features:

Are you okay with...

Heavy or Light Rifle? Go with a lighter or heavier barrel. This is where the bulk of your weight is going to come from, along with the buttstock, furniture and your optics.

Short carbine or longer precision AR? Do you need/want mobility, think youre going to use this 100 yards and in, or want to reach out to 300+ and touch something, then decide based on this.

Sensitive to recoil or not? Stick with 5.56/.223 if you're recoil sensitive. If you want the punching power, go with .300 blackout of 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel.

Do you like open sights, red dot, or variable optics? Its up to you...which one do you like? Weight will be affected based on your decision.

That said, here are my pics:

KISS rifle: DDM4V7 with fixed open sights and Aimpoint H1
KISS rifle WITH punching power: 14.5" barrel w/pinned KX3 brake, .300 blackout with fixed open sights and Aimpoint H1.
Precision Lightweight Shooter: 18" PredatAR with 1-4x variable scope (best combo of lightweight and precision IMO...but im biased )
Heavy: I would just upgrade to a LR-308....

I agree, it's pretty subjective.

For me it's,

16" barrel
Red dot optic with back up iron sights
Lightweight weapon mounted light
Lightweight hand guard, Magpul, Midwest or the like

And that's it. I like it simple. I keep backup battery's in the Magpul grip.

Look up Daniel Defense torture test on YouTube, they can take a beating. Sights u gotta go with irons, no batts
If u want red dot get aimpoint or trijicon, they last longest

My setup is 16" middy with chf govt profile dd barrel
Nib bcg
Aimpoint red dot w/ Troy buis
Vtac sling
Mags and ammo

Best? A rifle is only as good as the guy pulling the trigger. In case of most Calgunners, every AR is best, as most of us will not shoot it beyond its ability. And as bsumoba said, they're all good in shtf.

The most likely guns will be confiscated before SHTF happens. Pay attention to all the anti gun bills emerging in the State of Californa. It is more important to spend money on keeping our guns rather than buying more guns for the government to confiscate.The best AR? Easy, Bravo company or Daniel Defense, Colt and Palmetto premium lines. Then you will need Magazines ,a stock of ammo and spares to keep the AR in service.

If you dont care about weight, a M1, M1A, LR-308, AR-10 would do almost everything...

I don't think that i would use this in a CQB situation, but you can. you would probably disorient everyone in a close quarter room by firing that thing off, much like a flashbang. Dual Purpose!!!! Wear double ear pro .

My "CQB" needs are done with a handgun anyway.
