I hope it's not a stupid question but I wonder if just by owning a folding stock on a ak in California legal? You know, just owning it but not installed on weapon.

Yes, there is not constructive possession of an AW in CA PC.
(Short of the Broken AW concept)
Hell its legal to have one on your rifle as long as its over 30 inches in the most compact fire able setup. (Fixed open or long muzzle device) -

Another way I posted to make your AK over 30" OAL in the shortest config. Note in Cali, there is no requirement for permanence.
If you need help with any stragglers, call a friend, because it's likely that they have a gun. America in particular have done exceptionally well taking care of the problem, as there are 1.12 guns for every 1 American citizen. So throw a rock, you'll probably hit a gun, pick up that gun, then shoot a zombie.Comment

Yea I own an underfolder and a side folder. Owning it is fine, keep the OVer all length over 30" with the stock CLOSED. Or put it on and pin it, or if you have a 16" barrel put on a long brake. No need to weld it unless it's under a 16" barrel.Looking for more Mosins
