    14.5" Barrel question

I purchased a lower last week, but I'm still waiting for it to be released.

Rest of the parts are in the mail for the build, sans upper/barrel.

If I purchase a 14.5" barrel, comp, etc. Can I have it shipped directly to me, and have everything pinned/welded before I pick up my lower and be ok? Or since the lower had already been DROSed, is it considered in my possession?

I don't already own an AR lower.

And if it's "safe" to do the above, does anyone have any recommendations in the riverside area that'll pin/weld the comp and gas block?

Don't say anything just do it, keep the two seperate, the upper can be purchased and sent directly to you. Dont know anyone in Riverside but
Randall in the San Fernando valley(right off the 405) does excellent work

When I built my last AR I had the 14.5" barrel shipped directly to Randall. I mailed him the muzzle device and gas block. He did his magic and shipped to me. Everything worked and I didn't have to worry about constructive possession. If you don't take possession of the lower before you get the barrel you should be fine though.

Tell that to the people that drive up from San Diego or the Bay Area.
You only have to drive over once.
I do the work while you wait.
Almost anywhere else you go, plan on leaving it and having to go back later to pickup.

Same deal, Riverside area. Called a couple area gun shops a few weeks ago to pin/weld a muzzle brake to a 14.5. Neither would take the job, both said they didn't want to deal with 14.5s. One said they had been "calibrated" by local LE. The lower, whether I had one or not, was not addressed. Decided to do it myself.

OMG you are so right about this I laughed my arse off. My father has dropped stuff off to this lazy smith he knows and hasn't gotten it back in 2 years. Sad part is he keeps using the same guy.
