PSA Builds...are they really that cheap?

I'm not a PSA fanboy by any stretch of the imagination, BUT, I put a PSA rifle together back in Dec. 2010. The entire rifle was sourced through them, lower receiver+complete PSA rifle kit.
The reason I used them was based purely on price, I wanted to get an inexpensive AR Mforgery to go with my HBAR that I have had for over twenty years. I have put maybe 3K rounds through it so far with zero malfunctions of any kind regardless of the brand of ammo used. I can't speak for it's absolute accuracy as I have a red dot sight on it with a 2 mil dot so no tiny 100 yard groups for me with this one.
I have $553 in it not including the optics and while there may be "better" brands of AR's out there I seriously don't think that they could have worked any better for me. I try to buy intelligently when I purchase firearms and did do some research before I spent my money. All I wanted was a compact truck gun that I wouldn't shed any tears over if it got a scratch on the finish.
As to the OP's original post, it should come as no surprise that the $ added up to so much. When you build anything from parts it always seems to cost extra. Especially when you start adding name brand parts to the list.
One final thought, there are many out there that think that if you haven't paid top dollar and bought name brand expensive stuff that somehow everything else is just so much junk and not worth anyone's time of day. I, for one am just not all that impressed with how much someone has paid for their guns. I have a lot of relatively expensive handguns and rifles, but seriously when I go to the range I am just as likely to bring the PSA as I am to bring my Garand. Same with handguns, my Python has gotten to be worth so much that I rarely take it out of the safe any more. Usually I just bring my Rock Island .45 and blast away with that.MLC member.
Biden, proof that stupid people shouldn't be allowed to vote.

I hear that AK-47s are better than AR-15s.Comment

Basically I want to fund new projects, but i don't want to spend money...so i sell off stuff i don't shoot very often.....
then after a few months the cycle repeats itself.
within a year, the gun/project i sold off parts to fund becomes the parts i sell off to fund another project.
it's a vicious, endless cycle.Comment
