    CNC machine shop

Hello I'm looking for a gun shop that I can finish my 80% low receiver. So far the ones I found have a cease and desist. What's the story on that? I hope 80% receiver aren't illegal now?

    Thank You

Not to be rude, but the "search" function is your friend.

80% lowers are not illegal. The ATF has decided that machine shops that rent out their CNC machines does not fit the definition of a "home build". There are many other options but the bottom line is that you must do the machining yourself. Simple. Do the research and then do the work.

Welcome, see it's your first run on calguns. The short answer is that the ATF warned the cnc shops that they are manufacturing firearms for those who use their equipment. In any case, if you take baffomet's advice, there is ALOT of info already here on the forums that can answer more questions you have.

and to answer your questions no 80% are still legal to produce on your own time and machining merit. You'll just need to invest on tools/walkthrough/guides on how to finish your 80%

        cheers

Thank you guys for your reply's. I will search some more. I would love to get a nice CNC finish but because I'm so impatient I think I'm going to finish it my self at home with my drill press. It will be a good learning experience for me.

          Thank you

You haven't been looking hard enough.

And if you are in NorCal there is one that advertises all the time (too much) in the commercial sales section.

If you are in socal there are several shops that will rent out their cnc machines with no cease and desist letter from the atf. In southern Los Angeles county specifically.

It's amazing how quick people will dime out their local machine shops to complete strangers.

Hook me up with a PM. Procrastinated and now I'm kicking myself for not finishing my paperweight.
