Sounds like your asking if an AK is like and AR and you can switch the upper. If so, the answer is no.

If your asking if you could cut the rivets of a reciver and disassemble the gun, then re-rivet another kit onto that reciver, I think that might be possible, but not sure.

You could always reuse a receiver as long as you know what you are doing. But, if you're planning on making your own receiver, you might as well just make two to begin with. In the long run it would be cheaper and easier to do.

what are you trying to do exactly? it may be difficult to have a different trunnion line up on the holes and be lined with the rails and mag catch. i guess it doesn't hurt to try.

The main reason people demill their AK's and rebuild them is because something went wrong with the receiver.
It could be rail problems or the carrier not sliding properly or the trunions ending up crooked in the receiver.

All of these are fixed by making a new receiver.

It is possible, but it will be a pain the butt trying to demill all the rivets. You're more likely damage it more in the demilling process than just buying a new flat. Front trunion may be off and may not be aligned with the rails. Best to just pay $25 for another flat and bend it.
