    308 Lower Parts Kit

I am trying to help a friend build up a new DPMS style 308 Lower. I have no knowledge of what parts are good or quality out there in the 308 AR market. I have done a bit or reading on what I can find but it looks like I can either go with CMMG or DPMS 308 style LPK for the lower. Out of the two which would you recommend and why? Also is there something else out on the market that one might recommend or if there is such a thing as a high end 308 AR LPK?

    Happy New Year!

    dpms.

high end....mmm...you can build your own LPK and choose the mfg you want for various things such as the grip, safety, trigger, etc.

I would recommend getting the LPK that does not have a trigger and grip. That way, you can choose your own. Also, you will more than likely need your own bullet button that will more than likely need to be bought separately

CMMG parts kit was pretty nice. Decent trigger. Pre packed in separate baggies. That was the best part

If you've built a few LPKs you know how nice that is haha

That said I've ran a few DPMS LPKs on my AR15s and been happy. Again the baggied parts is nice with the CKMG kit. Other than that the DPMS/CMMG kit are of and about the same quality. Would choose either again.

I'm in the process of collecting parts for my .308 assembly. I went with DPMS LPK because:

A, it was offered without trigger group from Brownell's
and B, I got it for only $35 (got dealer discount)

I got Geissele SSA-E trigger for it.

for a 308 get a DPMS lpk. CMMG comes with a different bolt catch lever. CMMG uses a AR15 bolt catch with their lowers,
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

I bought a cheap PSA AR15 LPK for $30 and added the DPMS 308 bolt catch and 308 take down pins. Cheapy way to do it. Might switch the trigger out later.

I've used both and prefer the CMMG one. It's packaged in separate baggies plus it seems like the quality is just slightly better. Very close call but I would give it to the CMMG one. It's worth spending the extra 10-20 bucks for it. The fit and finish of the CMMG LPK is really good. I used the DPMS one a few years back and thought it was great compared to LPKs I've gotten for AR-15s. I've used RRA and PSA LPKs and they don't come close to the DPMS. Then I tried the CMMG and it seems even better than the DPMS.
