Muzzle break normal vs. large profile .308

Is one more effective than the other? I want results, not badass. I was looking at the JP line. I am thinking that I would need the .750 taper to meet the Mega barrel that I just ordered. Thanks in advance.

IMO, I dont see a huge difference between a large and a regular. I think its more to match the contour of the barrel.

You might get a little better brake from the larger one, only because there is more area for the gases to escape to the sides, and in JPs case, the top as well.

Get one that matches the profile of the barrel.

Most AR barrels are around 0.72" forward of the 0.750" diameter gas block.
The 0.720" diameter matches up VERY well on those barrels.

The large one is about 1/4" diameter larger in diameter and a couple ounces heavier.
I recommend staying with the standard ones as the big ones are HUGE!!!

Does anyone know any shops that stock them in the OC area?

            Maybe see them in person?

And Randal did you mean the .750 model brake? I didn't see a .720 brake contour.

Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

Thanks for the info. I do appreciate it. I will most likely setup an appointment with you in a few months to have you assemble the upper parts and check head space once I acquire all of the components. I have assembled lowers but with the price of a JD matched set, I don't want to learn by "fire".

                    Thanks again.

After they are turned, what is the best way to recoat them to match the Mega barrel? Do you provide such a service to match the brake to the barrel and refinish them to look seamless?
