    Uncomfortable AR

I'm tired. I'm tired of my rifle being uncomfortable. It's a featureless build. I had a regular a2 grip with a tac sol wrap. It feels odd with your thumb off to the side and I just can't get used to it.

I tried the hammer head grip from exile. Again uncomfortable, my thumb is just not right and you have a good grip but not a great grip.

The best thing about ARs is the ergonomics. I feel like I'm losing that and not getting it.

    Recommendations?

Featureless isn’t for everyone…. Go back to a featured setup and deal with the bullet button.

Unfortunately it’s a tradeoff… but it’s not hard to have ARs in both configurations for the cost of a 2nd lower.

No doubt BB is more comfortable. But I have legal 30 round mags that I have that are just sitting there. All though in actuality they don't get topped off due to the price of ammo. I still like options though.

+1 to what ExtremeX recommended. Build yourself a second lower and swap them around.

What about the U-15 stock? Not sure if they still make it though.
          Or this one, the FRS-15
The FRS-15 is a nifty looking AR-15 stock designed for the California market. In California you can use pre-ban full capacity magazines, with a standard magazine release, in semi-automatic rifles which do not have a pistol grip, adjustable stock or flash suppressor. The FRS-15 does not have a pistol grip (as defined by the State of California) and is not adjustable.

If SHTF and I ever need to use my AR to protect my loved ones or home, the bullet button is easy to take off. In the meantime, I use a couple 10 rounders to plink at the range.

Like you, I have preban 30's getting dusty but I have them if I want to take a class out of state or, again, SHTF.

You are not alone in your frustration. I tried featureless many times but always come back to the BB.

Perhaps you could work on a BB tool that encompases a finger ring, like this http://www.calegalmags.com/AR-Tool-R...SML_p_812.html

It's worked well for me to find a better "tool" than to madify my grip.

Yeah either get that lower BB'd and block those mags at 10 you said yourself your not filling them all the way. Or get another complete lower with the BB so you got both. I know a place that sells cheap pmags and the blocks for em.

It's better to be proficient with 10 rounds than uncomfortable with 30. Go bullet button for a while.. $15 for a button 40 or 50 for a stock and buffer and a rivet in a mag is not too much compared to comfort and you'll always have the parts to go back if you don't care for it.

I have both and have adapted to both. If you just can't get used to featureless go with a BB. Key is to make either option removable if you must. No law is going to stop me from kicking the living snot out of an enemy if I must.

Ugliest thing in existence but probably the most comfortable option. Although I have zero experience with it.

I have heard of people swapping uppers on their lower. Never considered swapping lowers on an upper.

Sounds viable. In reality the only time I'd use 30s or is in a SHTF scenario. I don't do gun classes or competition.

So I'm thinking build a featureless lower maybe around $150, and just store it along with the mags for a rainy day. Something happens just pop two pins? What you guys think?

I'm literally losing sleep over this. Look at the time, I have to go to work in the morning.

Regarding SHTF removing the B.B., it's easy to remove a featureless grip wrap as well, and you wouldn't even need to take apart the weapon. For mine, I use a solar tactical grip wrap and there's 3 screws holding it in place. Features? My stock is locked in the position I find comfortable shooting and I don't really need a Flash Hider /VFG.

And I agree with actium31, M1A seems like the best of both worlds in this situation. Ability to use 30 round mags and ergo for many people.
