    Tikka vs Sako?

Moving on to Tactical rifles. Have Desert Tactical Arms .308 bullpup coming and want to shoot it against Kimber AT .308 and at least a few others -- has anyone had hands on with Tikka T3 and Sako TRG 22? What other out of the box bolt tactical rifles should I be looking at?

    Thanks.

You really can't go wrong with either the Sako or the Tikka - excellent rifles and you will not be disappointed. My only complaint with the Tikka is that they don't make (or didn't make - not positive about the current product line) a short action. Minor complaint.

So far no one is buying the hype on the kimber. Not popular at all.

Tikka is a good no frills rifle with a good trigger and good accuracy. The Sako trg is a whole nuther league... they are NICE! Timberwolf has one- ask nicely he might let ya fondle it some weekend at APS.

Other factory gun is the Accuracy International- great reputation and fairly popular.

Sigs and Steyrs arent really common in the states but are popular in EU.

Rem 700 variants- usually so highly customized you couldnt do a practical test comparison with a factory one.

Just call up GAP and get a GAp templar rifle. Sit it in a Manners MCS-GAT Badger BDM and go to work with it.

One more thing for group posters.... Why is it you all post these great groups but when I see them at angelas they really are 2moa from a bench and rest? It doesnt matter about that one time you shot 5 shots well when the moon and stars lined up for you. Its allways about howyou constantly do.....

The guys on SnipersHide seem really down on the Tikka - they shoot a lot more than I do, so I'll take them at their word. It does strike me as a bit pricey for what you get.

I own a Sako TRG-22. Tack driver with handloads. Love it. Here's a good writeup.

Compair those factory rifles to something completly custom like a GAP, PAI, LSR or R&D. I have a M70 action gets finished off at GAP in 7wsm of coarse cant go away from that sucker.
                  Heresone of my LSR 7wsm's

Heres my M70 GAT at GAP:

5R is nice. Are you handloading for it? If so try the 155gr scenars shoot em hard and fast. Use win brass, Rl15/210M/WinLR OR Varget/BR2s. Brings out the best in 308!
